Today I explored some online productivity tools. Some I found very valuable, and others I think might be more valuable to someone who spends a lot of time at the computer perhaps for their career, and as a hobby during their free time. Some tools, such as Google Docs are very helpful, as your documents are saved online and can be transferred to Microsoft Word very easily. Others, such as Joe's Goals and Remember the Milk are set up to be electronic sticky notes and calendar to-do lists that create a daily score based upon the criteria you set as your goals, and whether you met those goals. These tools seem neat to me, but I don't think that I would trade my sticky notes and calendar print out/chore list to create an online version. I really liked the website Webnote, which could be very helpful for students with laptops to take notes on. It is set up as a note taking website, and you can save your notes and access them later from any computer. Overall, I think that many of these tools are great, but I think that many of them are just another way to be hooked to the computer and feed into the "Generation Always on" criteria.
