Upon searching for some apps for things that would interest me, I find many apps that would serve as great tools in coaching and education. I hadn't thought about using apps to go over field positioning or plays before. I still use my standard field layout white board, but an app for this kind of thing would be really neat. Also, for track and field, I found a gun starting app, an app that will take a picture of the end of a race, and will allow you to get the times and places of finishers.
In looking forward with apps, I see a more and more paper-free world. Instead of paper, we will have instant electronic feedback and data to use with our athletes and students. We will need phones or tablets with more storage capabilities as we move to a system in which we use apps as daily tools. I think that there will need to be ways to combine apps so that when you open one up, you can view data from another similar app or apps that are used for the same activity at the same time. I think that as we move towards being an "always-on" society, that apps can serve as on-the-go tools that we have instant access to. I am glad that I have had an opportunity to look into apps that could improve my teaching and coaching.
